Webinars ALIGN4ENERGY

Working towards a climate-neutral country in 2050 requires making energy use in homes more sustainable and ending the dependence on natural gas. An interdisciplinary consortium will work on solutions to accelerate this energy transition in the residential sector as part of the ALIGN4Energy program. It does so by supporting citizens, policymakers, and energy system developers to synchronize investment timelines, interests, and preferences.

In the first Align4energy webinar, we explored the future of electricity infrastructure and consumer energy choices. The speakers, Pedro Vergara Barrios (TU Delft), Qi Han (TU Eindhoven), and Dujuan Yang (TU Eindhoven), provided an introduction to the science of Agent-Based Modelling and its relevance to consumer energy choices, and delved into the use of Generative AI for electricity distribution infrastructure planning.

In the second Align4energy webinar, we explored the role of AI in decision-making processes, specifically in the energy transition. The speakers of this webinar, Eric Pauwels (CWI Amsterdam) and Hendrik Baier (Eindhoven University of Technology), discussed:

  • Ethics, risk, responsible and explainable AI
  • Case studies and examples of AI co-creation with users
  • Best practices of AI in energy and sustainability

In the third Align4energy webinar, we explored the role of data and behavioural science in activating citizens to invest in greening their homes. The speakers of this webinar, Sanchayan Banerjee, Julia Blasch, and Marjan Nikoloski (all from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), discussed:

  • What we can do to activate citizens
  • How we can do it (First results of A4E research)
  • Why data-driven behavioural interventions are promising for practitioners
