The Living Labs are developing to the Next Generation Living Labs transitioning to Open Innovation in different themes such as clean energy, home energy management, building technologies, lighting and digital technologies, etc. The joint DG R&I and ENOLL networking conference workshop:” Co-Creating innovation: Scaling-up urban challenges from local to global” contributed to accelerating this transition.

Two examples of “Next Generation Living Labs” are the Home Energy Management (HEM) by The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), and the Climate- KIC Building Technologies Accelerator – Smart Sustainable Offices (SSO) by EIT.
