Intergenerational transmission of attentional bias and anxiety

Anxiety disorders are among the most prevalent childhood and adulthood psychopathologies.Anxiety disorders run in families: The presence of an anxiety disorder in parents corresponds to up to a sevenfold increase in the anxiety
disorders in the offspring. Both the genetic transmission of anxiety vulnerabilities and the environmental influences derived from Intergenerational transmission of attentional bias and anxiety growing up with an anxious parent have been found to contribute to the overlap between parents’ and their offspring's anxiety. However, little is known regarding the specific mechanisms supporting familial aggregation.
