In 2012 hurricane Sandy hit the New York. Inhabitants suddenly found themselves without water, food electricity, and heating. The likelihood of such events happening has increased in the past couple of years. Not just in New York, but also other big cities. The cause of this being that habitability is not prioritized in policy making, design intervention and technical approaches. If climate change related habitability is not incorporated into policy making, unacceptable circumstances like in New York will resurface.
