People and the Sea Conference

Organised by the social science Centre for Maritime Research (MARE)

The theme of this international conference is ‘Learning from the Past, Imagining the Future’. The conference will host approximately 400 papers by scholars from various parts of Europe (50%), North America and Australia (25%) and other regions of the world (25%). Topics include governance (from local to international), livelihoods, knowledge framings, navigation, appropriation and criminalization, and innovation in the oceanic and coastal realms.
