Healthcare access of undocumented migrants

Hi there, welcome to our Openresearch page and online portfolio, where we will take you along in our process in the Transdisciplinary Global Health Challenge (TGHC). In our project, we work on improving healthcare access for undocumented migrants in The Netherlands. In the Netherlands there are between 23.000 and 58.000 undocumented migrants (Pharos, 2022). Not having the right documents makes this group, even while they are residing in the Netherlands, vulnerable due to the many barriers they experience in accessing the healthcare system. In this project, we work together with Amsteradm City Rights (ACR). ACR is a prominent Dutch non-governmental organization dedicated to advocating for the rights of undocumented migrants in Amsterdam, including advocating for their access to healthcare (Amsterdam CityRights – the Right to the City, n.d.). Together, we hope to enhance the healthcare accessibility for these migrants and dive deeper into what prevents them for getting the help they need.
