Lab 4: Just energy transition

The municipality of Amsterdam is working to accelerate the energy transition in Amsterdam Southeast. The energy transition is both a social, societal, and technical process. It is important that the transition happens in an inclusive and just way. When we talk about energy justice, it considers ensuring equal access to energy for every person, regardless of their background, income, or location. Justice plays an important role because energy is a necessity needed to live and work. This means that if the energy transition is not looked at with a with a critical justice perspective, it is likely to worsen existing inequality and poverty.
