Gerrit Rietveld Academie
The Gerrit Rietveld Academie is an international university of applied sciences for Fine Arts and Design in Amsterdam that offers three cycles of degrees in art education. It is well-known for its focused approach, to empower students individually for a top quality output.
The Gerrit Rietveld Academie provides 12 different bachelor courses and 15-20 master courses, the latter are provided under the name Sandberg Instituut. The Gerrit Rietveld Academie also provides a third cycle of arts education; the Creator Doctus (CrD). Additionally, the Gerrit Rietveld Academie hosts research initiatives such as the ‘Kenniskring’ (Research Group) directed by professor Jeroen Boomgaard as well as the research programme ‘Making Things Public’ directed by Sher Doruff.
The Gerrit Rietveld Academie aims to cultivate interdisciplinary approaches with an emphasis on artistic research, as it accepts and forwards the notion that art does, and will, produce knowledge.
