"Community Center Mijehof is a meeting place in Holendrecht, Amsterdam Zuidoost. Everyone in the area of Amsterdam Zuidoost is welcome every day to create fun together with the community. Fun and challenging activities alternate with cozy gatherings. Usually free of charge and sometimes for a small fee. In this way, together with the entire neighborhood, we are developing a place where young and old can come together to create fun.

"Sociability means being together, laughing together and chatting together. But we also discuss any problems with each other, in order to look for solutions together. Sociability is central and in this way we help each other, together with the entire community, to create a good living environment in our neighbourhood.

"Community Center Mijehof, together with a large group of indispensable volunteers, is managed by the Carabic foundation, who are committed to increasing social cohesion in Amsterdam Southeast. We do this by being active in the area ourselves and by coming into contact with many residents. This way we not only know what is going on in daily life, but we also know how we can really help young people and seniors. Community Center Mijehof is the place where this can be made possible." How does the Community Center work together with companies?

In different ways. Ikea, for example, donated a lot of stuff. The Marriott Hotel has donated kitchen utensils, and we are also looking at how we can work together in other ways.

From CBRE (owner of the Amsterdamse Poort shopping center) we have received a space for a social rate. Here we are now looking for partners to renovate.

We are also working with the Zandkasteel housing project. Here we want to set up something around the question: how can we create something together to connect old and new residents?

In Reigersbos we have also been given a new space for social rates: here we have a food bank.

We also have a space on IJburg (Pampuslaan 12) for young people and mothers. (Read more about the project in this article of the Parool.)
