A collective memory

Openresearch is building a research archive for the city. Knowledge is often lost in the long run. Due to staff turnover, reorganisations or simply the passage of time, it is difficult to retain knowledge. By publishing findings and insights in an orderly fashion on the open research platform, Amsterdam builds up a collective research memory.

Openresearch tries to be current and thus to provide researchers and residents of Amsterdam and beyond with insight into what is going on in terms of research around a certain subject. It is very important that the studies that are published remain standing. For example, openresearch.amsterdam is slowly building up an archive. Both the municipal inventory that forms the basis of certain policy and, for example, a university study into the same policy are published side by side.

Openresearch.amsterdam tries to keep research out of the proverbial drawer. The hope is that older research can in any case serve as inspiration and, in the best case scenario, make (parts of) newly proposed research superfluous.
