Conny Roggeband (University of Amsterdam/AISSR) focuses on the micro politics surrounding diversity policies and practices within organizations. She looks at how people within organizations respond to or contest the meanings of diversity. Diversity is a contentious issue. Since the introduction of diversity policies in the 1990s, the discourse surrounding them has been troubled. We currently see a strong political backlash against diversity policies. How and why do the subjects of diversity policies resist to or comply with these policies? What are the implications of this? When and how do they challenge or reproduce inequalities?
