In 2023, the Municipality of Amsterdam will investigate the traffic effects of measures to reduce car traffic on the Weesperstraat-Valkenburgerstraat axis. We are looking at what actually happens on the street and in the area when the Weesperstraat is temporarily closed to car traffic. In six consecutive weeks, the effects on traffic, air quality and quality of life will be investigated when the Weesperstraat is temporarily closed.
Prior to this study, number plate cameras were used to look at how much traffic in the current traffic situation is driving through Weesperstraat and Valkenburgerstraat, and where the vehicles come from and go to. This report presents the results of the current traffic situation with possible implications for a cut on the Wibautas.
