Basic knowledge Democratic Constitutional State

The Netherlands is a parliamentary democracy and the rule of law. During the elections, all Dutch citizens with voting rights choose the representatives of political parties that appeal to them most.

Municipal elections will be held on March 16, 2022, so citizens will go to the polls again.
These elections are not only for the municipal council, but also for the district committees and the Weesp administrative committee. In Weesp, the latter is possible from the age of 16.

But what does being a constitutional state actually mean? How is the country governed and what are the municipal elections actually about? What does a city council do and what does a committee do? You can read more about this in this collection or watch the short instructional videos.
