'The good city' - Geert Mak

Inaugural lecture Wibaut chair (2000-2003)

Writer Geert Mak held the Wibaut Chair from 2000 - 2003. During his chair term, he focused on the integration history of Amsterdam. In 2003, he ended his term at his own request to write his book 'In Europe'. Below you can read his inaugural lecture 'The good city' in Dutch. He delivered this speech when he accepted the position of special professor for metropolitan issues and Amsterdam in particular on the Wibaut chair at the University of Amsterdam on Friday, January 19, 2001.
