[Full title: A neighbourhood-scale case study on Cultural Ecosystem services of the Urban Green Commons for the inhabitants of Molenwijk en Tuindorp Oostzaan, Amsterdam.]

Urban green spaces (UGS) play a pivotal role in enhancing the well-being and health of urban dwellers, particularly in vulnerable neighbourhoods. The complex challenge lies in quantifying their intangible benefits within spatial planning, often prioritizing tangible (monetary) gains. Neglecting UGS's contributions to well-being can result in adverse consequences for urban residents. Moreover, disparities in UGS access further hinder potential health advantages for marginalized groups. To address these issues, this study investigated the role of Urban Green Commons (UGC) in promoting health and well-being in the contexts of Tuindorp Oostzaan and Molenwijk, Amsterdam. To research this, qualitative methodologies, were used encompassing literature reviews and interviews. They were employed to comprehensively explore the relationship between UGC and well-being and health.

This study underscores the imperative of integrating UGC into urban planning and policy considerations, recognizing their significant contribution to overall well-being. To ensure equitable distribution of UGC benefits, support and reduced barriers for UGS initiatives in vulnerable areas are recommended. Incorporating biodiversity and amenities, along with promoting community engagement, can amplify the positive impact.
