Spatial shift and urban resilience: A case study on the city of Rotterdam

MADE Student Project

This thesis marks the final step toward my master’s degree in Metropolitan Analysis, Design, and Engineering. It also is the end of my inspiring journey as a MADE student and my insightful and great time as an intern at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. First I would like to express my gratitude to my academic supervisors, Martijn Meijers and Jaap Vleugel, for their time and effort in guiding me through this process. Their constructive feedback has been extremely valuable. A Special thanks to Liselotte for giving me this opportunity to do my graduation research in her department. You have helped me get this research started, and your enthusiasm about the topic inspired me as well. I appreciate Edoardo Felici for stepping in later and the entire Data Monitoring and Evaluation team for their support, feedback, and insights throughout my research. Furthermore, I would like to thank the municipality of Rotterdam, especially Will Clerx, for their collabora- tion and for providing me with the essential data and information for this research. Finally, a big thank you to everyone who contributed their time and expertise, whether through interviews, discussions, support, or feedback. Your involvement has truly enriched me and this work.
