The cut on the Weesperstraat will become the watershed in Amsterdam's mobility policy
by: dr. Walther Ploos van Amstel (AUAS)
This opinion piece emphasizes that the 'Knip Weesperstraat' pilot will be a crucial moment for Amsterdam's mobility policy. The debate in the city council shows division and a lack of a clear vision. Years ago they protested extensively against an intervention that would increase traffic in the Kattenburgerstraat. That was in vain, but as a way of making amends, the street was redeveloped at the beginning of this year and a maximum speed of thirty kilometers per hour was introduced.'Read the full article (Dutch) here (paywall): Een week vol chaos, boze automobilisten én positieve effecten in de Weesperstraat: ‘Dit is véél beter voor de stad’ (parool.nl)
