Open science: visions and policy
In this collection you will find policy and vision documents from institutes and partnerships that support, coordinate and/or try to shape the open science movement in the Netherlands on a local (university), national and global scale.
Various issues play a role in this: which aspects of open science should be emphasized, what is needed to make science (even more) open, what undesirable side effects can occur, and how can they be prevented? -

Tools for open science
In this collection you will find practical tools for practicing open science. For example, there is a step-by-step plan for responsible scientific practice for students, a handbook for scientists who are just starting their career, and you will find national and international codes of conduct. Below, with more information, a number of useful links have also been added.
Is your research relevant to the Amsterdam region? Then you can use this platform to make your research visible and accessible to other researchers in the city, to officials of the municipality of Amsterdam, and, if you want, to the whole world. Please contact our editor-in-chief or an open research editor at your institution. -

Hot topics in open science
The theme of open science is regularly discussed and a lot of research is done. In this collection you will find a number of studies and positions that relate to recurring issues such as freedom, inequality, cooperation, data stewards and disciplinary differences.
However, the collection does not highlight facets and discussions: Discussions about open source, open software and open content are not included in this collection. In the collection on policy in the Netherlands you will find research into the current state of affairs on the latter (open content). -

Citizen Science
Citizen science is a form of scientific research that actively involves members of the public in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. This can range from counting backyard birds to analyzing complex data sets using online tools. Citizen science makes it possible to collect and analyze larger amounts of data, and to conduct research on topics that might otherwise not be adequately resourced.
