Despite the many advantages of building with timber, the mass adoption of timber as a building material is evolving at a rather slow rate. This is due in part to the many misconceptions about building with timber, or common “timber myths”. The newly published booklet ‘Discussing Timber Myths’ dispels the most common of these myths. It simultaneously opens discussions around contested topics such as fire safety of timber construction, wood availability, and forestry best practices.

For the series Houtbouw (wood construction) by Pakhuis de Zijwger, program developer Circularity in Urban Regions, Joke Dufourmont , spoke about the myths around wood as a construction material. The series Houtbouw centers around the use of renewable material for a circular economy, with wood in the spotlight.
Joke's presentation includes information from her recent publication: "Debunking Timber Myths".
This video gives a consise overview of how the timber construction can help to make Amsterdam climate-neutral by 2050.
