Due to their shifting functions and old age, the quay walls in the city centre are in desperate need of renewal. Quay walls have reached the end of their designed life-span and are showing signs of structural instability and are known to be able to collapse. In the coming years, 200 kilometres of quays will be replaced. This infrastructural overhaul offers the possibility to include climate adaptation measures, which is what this report provides an insight to.

The aim of the project is twofold. Firstly, prevention of damage to the quay walls due to climate change impacts and secondly, quay wall design that contributes to a liveable and climate adaptive city.
