Een toekomstbestendige stad is niet vanzelfsprekend [A future proof city is not a given]

IOOR contribution to the book "Ontwerpen vanuit de Doorsnede: de ondergrond als bouwsteen voor de toekomstbestendige stad" that was published on October 6th 2022. The book gathers the results of te design study Stad x Ruimte [City x Space], organised by TU Delft, Centrum Ondergronds Bouwen [Centre for Underground Construction], Departement Omgeving [Department of Environment] and Vereniging Deltametropool.

Besides the results of 7 professional design teams and 6 TU Delft student design teams  on various cases in The Netherlands and Flanders, the book contains several long-form reflective essays on the case studies and the future of designing with the underground. As IOOR-team we provided one of these longer articles, reflecting on our experiences with integral public space design in Amsterdam, and the challenges and opportunities it brings for future proof public space.

Many thanks to dr. Fransje Hooimeijer and drs. ir. Hans de Boer at the TU Delft for the invitation to contribute to this interesting publication.

The entire book is available here: http://www.publicspace.be/index.php/project/ontwerpen-vanuit-de-doorsnede/
