Openresearch.amsterdam: A Platform for Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration

Openresearch.amsterdam is an innovative digital platform designed to centralize and make accessible research, knowledge and innovation in the city of Amsterdam and its region. The platform originated from a collaboration between the City of Amsterdam and various knowledge institutions, such as the University of Amsterdam, Vrije Universiteit, and Hogeschool van Amsterdam. Since its launch in 2020, it has played a key role in connecting academic and policy knowledge with social issues.

The platform offers a unique structure with public, semi-public, and private layers, allowing users to securely share and leverage knowledge. By using semantic software, interdisciplinary connections are made, making relevant research easily findable and usable. Openresearch facilitates collaboration between researchers, policymakers and civil society organizations, with the goal of addressing complex urban challenges more effectively.

Recently, the platform has been further developed with features such as machine translation, improved usability and integration with scientific databases such as GlobalCampus. With an average of 7500 weekly users, openresearch.amsterdam is an indispensable tool for strengthening knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration, both locally and internationally. The platform thus promotes a more connected and sustainable future for Amsterdam.
