Web3 / Fediverse

The control of the new phase of the internet is shifting more towards the user instead of big tech companies. People are generally becoming more aware of their internet usage and what they want to share or not. This has led to a group of opponents and a call for more ownership from the end-user on the internet. While Web3 is still conceptual and not fully developed, steps are being taken to achieve greater ownership on the internet. Additionally, there is Web 3.0, which, despite the similar name, has significant differences. Web3 is fundamentally a blockchain-based system focusing on transactions between users. Web 3.0 envisions the future internet as a decentralized system based on protocols, aligning with its original design.
