Technical and environmental solutions towards a re-designed, high quality kitchen for the Taibah Mosque
An energy transition is needed to achieve the 2050 climate goals. The Taibah mosque has the ambition to be the first energy-neutral mosque in the Netherlands. To guide the path, the research objective of this report is to develop a design proposal and plan of action towards an energy neutral and gas-free kitchen for the Taibah Mosque, by exploring alternate technical solutions that do not compromise on food quality and productive output.

The Taibah mosque can play an important part in making its communities houses more sustainable. The process of making a house more sustainable is long and complicated for many households. In this report, students researched how the Taibah mosque can encourage its community to become more sustainable, using simple steps. The students developed a tool that helps users to make their house more sustainable and provides insight on how much money can be saved. An Adequate Communication Strategy
The realization of the energy neutral mosque asks for collaboration between many parties that possibly have different visions and goals. Currently the board of the Taibah mosque has trouble communicating its goals. A few students have researched which communication strategy the mosque can use to actively involve the organization of the mosque and the community in its ambitions to become sustainable. Upscaling Energy Transition Approached to Mosques in the Netherlands
An energy transition is needed to achieve the 2050 climate goals. The Taibah mosque has the ambition to be the first energy-neutral mosque in the Netherlands. The knowledge obtained by the Taibah mosque in the process of realizing this may also be valuable for other mosques. A number of students have investigated how the sustainability strategy of the Taibah mosque can be scaled to other mosques in Amsterdam and the rest of the Netherlands. They developed a manual that provides insight to other mosques in the steps they can take. The results can be found in the research report.
