City districts Noord, Nieuw-West and Zuidoost
Recently, another option has been added: supporting or implementing a social initiative yourself, aimed at, for example, combating inequality of opportunity, participation, poverty, health, loneliness or education in one of the Amsterdam districts. Preferably New West, North or Southeast. As of 1 June 2023, this has also been included as standard in the Social Return declaration framework for contractors of the municipality of Amsterdam. A lot is possible in practice!
Valuable initiatives
Some examples (not exhaustive) of Amsterdam contractors who support a social initiative;
· A large engineering firm supports with knowledge and expertise a neighborhood initiative in the K Buurt Amsterdam Zuidoost aimed at combating energy poverty and the energy transition;
· Various contractors support the Studiezalen foundation, which offers young people from Nieuw West space and guidance to learn and develop;
· An ICT company has developed an anti-cyberbullying programme together with education;
· A large construction company sets up a vocational school in the Western Port Area;
· A large international company in logistics contributes to sports stimulation in neighborhoods where sports for children are often not an option due to lack of money;
· Employees of a large temporary employment agency help young people without a network to draw up a CV and apply for a job;
· A large advisory organization supports neighborhood initiatives and starting entrepreneurs in setting up the accounting, etc.
