Safeguarding machine vision in cities

Paper presentation by researcher: Andrea Mauri

How can we design urban smart sensing solutions in such a way that it becomes difficult to re-use them in a malicious way? In this paper presentation a solution is presented: You need to know what the machine shouldn't know.

Machine vision systems are more and more being used for smart city applications. Think, for example, of radars measuring the traffic on streets. While these systems enable rapid decision-making on a large scale, they can easily be reused for irresponsible applications. And that may be harmful to stakeholders.
