Water
Amsterdam and water are inextricably connected.
Already in the Middle Ages, Amsterdam was a canal city and was surrounded and protected by the still existing moats Singel, Kloveniersburgwal and Geldersekade. In recent decades however, water has begun to play a more hostile role in our lives. Although we as a delta country have long been fighting against the water, we are faced with a major taks due to the risking sea level and extreme weather conditions.
We are already working on the solutions. Not only to protect us from water, but also to reduce our emission so that the effects of climate change do not escalate further, to address the water scarcity and social inequalities that come with it and to restore the aquatic ecosystem. In this collection you will find research, manuals and solutions related to these water themes.
