Summer School and Artistic Training on Rhythm Events (2018-2019)

Open Set Programme

In the period from August 2018 until February 2019, Open Set, in collaboration with a consortium of partners (see below) has taken the initiative to organize a new programme in design, art and humanities, that consists of a Summer School, a LAB and a series of seminar meetings. With its annual theme Fluid Rhythms, we explore how multiple entities — people, objects, plants, molecules or electromagnetic waves — and the interconnectedness of their rhythms constitute increasingly complex systems of urban and human bodies.

Our group of makers and thinkers will develop frameworks and interventions to discover the endless net of invisible, forgotten and dominating rhythms to unveil blind-spots, where the cohesion between rhythms is broken, observing moments of synchronization to imagine new ways of enhancing shared, inclusive cultures, and social and ecological well-being. Recognizing the ground-breaking potential of rhythm-led methodologies for art and design practice, Open Set purposefully draws together practitioners in the fields of arts and humanities, as well as residents, local activists and civil servants.
