How can open knowledge development and scientific collaboration be ensured, without benefiting regimes that can threaten national security accessing this page? Saar Slegers, investigative journalist in residence at the Netherlands Insititute of Advanced Studie in the Humanities and and Social Siences (NIAS) makes many podcast series in which she investigates the problems surrounding the theme of 'knowledge security'.

The introduction to the podcast series on NPO radio 1 is:

National knowledge security

This guideline is a guide for administrators of knowledge institutions that deal with international cooperation and must weigh up opportunities and (security) risks against each other. It has been compiled by the national government, the Universities of the Netherlands (VSNU). NFU, KNAW, VH, NWO and the TO2 federation.

The guideline focuses primarily on administrators of knowledge institutions. But this guideline also contains tools for others, such as safety coordinators, project leaders and individual researchers.

Human Rights Watch's international advice is based on human rights situations, and thus the degree of academic freedom scientists have.
