The added value of multilingualism in education
Our councilor Simion Blom (spokesperson for primary education) wants the municipality to develop a strategy to use the multilingualism of children in primary and secondary education. The use of the home language at school helps in the fight against inequality of opportunity and improves the well-being of multilingual children in Amsterdam. Simion Blom, together with our councilor Tirza de Fockert (spokesperson for secondary education) and councilor Numan Yilmaz of DENK, wrote an initiative proposal called 'Multilingualism in education'.

Kletsheads* is a podcast about bilingual children for parents, teachers and speech language therapists. What can you expect if you’re raising your children bilingually? What’s important? In each episode, Dr. Sharon Unsworth, linguist and mother of two children (both bilingual, of course), discusses the science behind the language development of bilingual children with another expert.
