This study provides an assessment of the science base behind the principles of carbon storage in (construction) products made of timber, the impact of mass-supply of timber on the European forestry production chain, the way greenhouse gas emissions and GWP are accounted for in environmental impact assessment methodologies (specifically life cycle assessment and the underlying databases), and what the potential of temporary carbon storage is for mitigation of climate change.
