Safe Interaction of pedestrians and cyclists with automated transport (SIPCAT) is a project using Virtual Reality to study the interaction among pedestrians, cyclists and automated vehicles.
This project uses a 3D VR Digital Twin to safely and efficiently study the interaction of pedestrians and cyclists with automated shuttles and delivery robots. This project also develops and studies use cases for pedestrians and cyclists interacting with the Husky delivery robot and the Olli passenger shuttle within the 3D VR Digital Twin of the Marineterrein Amsterdam Living Lab (MALL).
SIPCAT aims to assess under which conditions pedestrians and cyclists safely share the road with Automated Transport of People and Goods, whilst maintaining an acceptable operational speed of the automated transport.
The SIPCAT project is funded by NWO.
