Hoogleraar Onderwijs en Diversiteit, Sociologie, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Vakgroep: Identities, Diversity and Inclusion (IDI)

In 2011, I was appointed Full Professor at VU University Amsterdam’s Sociology department holding the chair Diversity and Education. In the last twenty-five years I have studied the school careers of children of immigrants in education in a national and international context. I have lead or participated in international programs like the Horizon 2020 program on early school leaving, I coordinated the ERC consolidated grant on the pathways to success of the second generation through education and work and I conduct ongoing work on the position of students with a migrant background in higher education, on student mentoring in education and comparative international research on refugee children in education.
In 2017 I received an ERC advanced grant for a project on integration in superdiverse neighborhoods in North Western Europe.
