Achilleas Psyllidis

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) | Assistant Professor of Location Intelligence & Spatial Analysis

Achilleas Psyllidis is Assistant Professor of Location Intelligence and Spatial Analysis at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). He is also an affiliate of the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS Institute), where he leads the Social Urban Data Lab (SUDL), and of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Center for BOLD (Big, Open, and Linked Data) Cities. He is co-principal investigator of the SocialGlass research program, and lead researcher in Horizon 2020 research and innovation projects, on issues related to location data analyses, health, and urban space. He holds a PhD in Spatial Data Science from TU Delft, as a scholar of the Onassis Foundation, the European Social Fund (ESF) of the EU, the Greek State Scholarships Foundation, the Foundation for Education and European Culture, and the A. G. Leventis Foundation. His research focuses on the development of computational methods and tools that give insight into people’s activities, behaviors, and interactions and the places they occur.

Prior to his appointment as Assistant Professor, he was Postdoctoral Researcher in Urban Data Science at the Web Information Systems group, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science (EEMCS), TU Delft. He has been a research affiliate of the Joint Research Center for Spatial Information (Wuhan University & TU Delft), and of the Joint Research Center for Urban Systems and Environment (South China University of Technology & TU Delft). He further holds Master’s degrees in Architectural Engineering and Spatial Planning.
