Knowledge base for participation in the physical environment

Participation of residents in developments in the physical living environment has increased since the 1960s
become more normal practice. In one participation process. In one participation process, residents are allowed to participate from policy formulation to implementation and delivery, in the other process it is participation is limited to one or a few moments in policymaking.

Parallel to the development of this practice, there are also scientific insights into participationgained. The link between the two can be said to be weak. New participation practices are often introduced has not been systematically scientifically investigated, so it is not clear whether and why a new one approach works. Conversely, practice often makes little or no use of it scientific insights into the design of participation processes. Creating a scientific knowledge base regarding participation is an important step in the right direction.
