Transgender clients' experiences of healthcare accessibility: a qualitative study.

Transgender people globally often face barriers to accessing health services. The nature and extent of those barriers varies but may comprise administrative and financial reasons such as lack of identity documents or insurance, fears of being misgendered (being addressed as the gender they were assigned at birth rather than their identified gender), or discrimination by providers. This study aims to identify and describe barriers and facilitators to accessing healthcare services by transgender clients of the Amsterdam Trans Clinic, a clinic that specifically serves the community of trans persons who experience additional forms of marginalization alongside their trans identity, such as being a refugee or having an undocumented status, homelessness, or being a sex worker.
