K&K - rhythm combination 1

The backside of Kikkenstein engages the domestic, inactive and public rhythm zones. This is one of the most problematic areas in the whole Amsterdam Zuidoost according to the cleaning department. This is where the private balconies of the apartments are, and one of the issues is the residents’ throwing away their garbage out of their balconies. This can indeed be observed from the type of garbage that is on the floor, such as large quantities of same type of cans, diapers, fruit peels and other types of house trash.

However, the rhythm combination in this area is also a particular one. The domestic rhythm is inactive on the ground floor level and the inactive green rhythm zone ends up with the elevated road, resulting to be an even less visited space. In other words, when the trash from the balconies touches the floor, the only witnesses are the cleaners. Occasionally there are bikes passing by, as it can be observed in other inactive rhythm zones, but generally this rhythm combination results in being a dead spot.
