Hidden under the Amstel - Introduction III. The built city

Some aspects of building history in Amsterdam

In Hidden under the Amstel, 29 authors – ranging from historians, archaeologists and materials experts to journalists, curators and researchers – embark on a historical-archaeological quest that has resulted in 107 stories, each based on a specific find or functional group of finds. The result is a richly varied anthology of the many stories hidden in the archaeological finds of the North/South line.

This chapter is written by Gabri van Tussenbroek.

The entire books can be purchased at Van Zoetendaal / De Harmonie Uitgevers.
