Archived Citizen Science projects
Every Amsterdam resident can contribute to science — and many already have. On this page, you’ll find an overview of Citizen Science projects that have now been completed.
In these projects, citizen scientists contributed in various ways: by collecting data, sharing their experiences, or carrying out small-scale research. This took place both outdoors and indoors — from counting birds, frogs, and plants in gardens to analyzing (satellite) images for archaeological research. Digital contributions also played a role, such as playing games that support medical research, or even everyday activities like doing laundry as part of microplastics studies.
This collection highlights the diversity and value of Citizen Science. In addition to projects from Amsterdam, you’ll also find inspiring examples from beyond the city.
