Renaturing Cities - Addressing Environmental Challenges and the Effect of the Economic Crisis through Nature-based Solutions

The European Commission (Directorate for Climate Action and Resource Efficiency) is organising this two-day conference under the auspices of the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The aim of the Conference is to highlight innovative tools, strategies and best practices in the field of Nature Based Solutions that European cities are adopting in order to combine tradition and modernity while addressing environmental challenges and the impacts of the economic crisis.

Mr Kurt Vandenberghe, Director for "Climate Action and Resource Efficiency" will open the event. Mr Christos Vasilakos, Secretary General for Research and Technology, Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs of the Hellenic Republic will also give an opening address. High level representatives from Academia, Urban Planning Authorities, Private Sector and International Organizations will provide keynote speeches and join the debate in a multi-stakeholder environment.

Members of the European Parliament and representatives from DG Environment, DG Regional Policy, DG Climate Action, Joint Research Centre will moderate/chair the conference sessions.
