Green and healthy city - Green Light District

The ambitions of the City of Amsterdam

Green is essential for city life. Especially now that the city is changing and growing, this has an influence on the use of public space. Green ensures that Amsterdam remains a pleasant place for people and animals. This is mainly due to the effect it has on our health, social well-being, climate adaptation and nature. In the vision of Amsterdam, we are working on connecting and improving the greenery in the city, with the aim of creating a strong green structure. Connecting green areas creates more opportunities for animals and plants to live and for people to enjoy. Gradually, in the public and private outdoor space, a cohesive green network is created in which you can move and in which you can meet each other. We achieve this green structure by preserving valuable greenery, adding greenery where possible and creating greenery in such a way that it has more value for people and animals.

The projects of Green Light District
