Citizen-state relations in the city

In this NIAS Talk three fellows discussed contemporary urban citizenship in Amsterdam as there is increasing emphasis on democratization and representation in citizen-state relations. With Urban Citizen Fellows Anouk de Koning, Nanke Verloo and Markha Valenta.

Alderman Rutger Groot Wassink (Social Affairs, Diversity and Democratization) and Caroline Nevejan, Chief Science Officer of the Municipality of Amsterdam and professor by special appointment of Designing Urban Experience (UvA) also joined the meeting digitally. They responded to the fellows' investigations. Jan Willem Duyvendak, director of NIAS and professor of sociology (UvA) moderated the conversation.
