Over the past two years a number of parties have worked on the Amstel-Stad Case Study. That has resulted in an integral design method for public space. An integral design method is needed, because Amsterdam is about to undergo a major transition, powered by four major challenges: climate change, energy transition, circular economy and growth of the city.
This video discusses the method and explains the urgency of the task.
The new design method consists of important parts: making an inventory based on 7 cross-area themes, formulating the general performance goals per area theme, selecting suitable measures and choosing the resulting details.
In conclusion, the power of the new method lies in the combination of:
- Access to data
- Strategic programming together with network operators
- And long-term alignment of investments.
That results in integral and innovative solutions.
