Urban Regeneration in the City Fringe
Mandate and plan for the project
This project will primarily investigate how to transform and integrate today’s traffic barriers in the surrounding urban fabric, which we could call from roads to urban streets, or to Metropolitan avenues. While roads are designed for cars and create barriers, urban streets will be the space that connects the blocks and wards and promotes movement. A change from roads to urban streets can liberate space to establish new façades, with vegetation and new buildings that make use of the ground floors. An URBACT project about some of these issues is to start spring 2020, which we will cooperate with, as well as METREX will establish an expert-group which will support our work.
