My research aims to provide insight in the dynamics in public commissioning teams in the Dutch infrastructure sector. These teams are ‘surrounded’ by a variety of internal and external stakeholders who all have different interests, different views on the desired project performance, and different power and urgency positions (De Schepper, Dooms, & Haezendonck, 2014). Public commissioning teams have to cope with all these stakeholders and their diverse demands. This study will focus on coping strategies and actions (Krohne, 1989) and on the concurrent narrative development (Boje, 2001) in municipal commissioning teams. Data will be collected from municipal organizations and public infrastructure commissioning teams through ethnographic research methods, using participant-observations, in-depth semi-structured interviews, and document analyses. My research is sponsored by the engineering department of the municipality of Amsterdam, and will focus on Amsterdam.

Ik heb in de periode van 2011 tot en met 2013 deelgenomen aan het kernprogramma van Rijksprojectacademie. Sinds 2014 heet deze organisatie Neerlands diep. Het is een opleidingsorganisatie van Rijkswaterstaat, Prorail, het Rijksvastgoedbedrijf en de vier grote gemeenten (G4) voor publieke projectmanagers in de bouw en infrastructuur.
Mijn eindscriptie voor deze opleiding vormde de opmaat tot een promotietraject aan de VU.
Mijn interesse gaat uit naar de dynamiek in projectteams en naar de beweegredenen en rationaliteiten die ten grondslag liggen aan die dynamiek.
