Chris de Vries

Chris de Vries graduated in Public Administration at the Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1997. He now works as a policy researcher in the research department of the Rotterdam municipality. He regularly lectures on the subjects of research on behalf of Dutch local government policy.
His specialization in terms of policy area is the leisure sector and everything related. Recurring themes are sports and exercising, cultural participation, volunteering, visiting parks and other green spaces and the way inhabitants appreciate their city and their neighborhood to spend their free time. One of his specialties in terms of research methods is conducting and analyzing large scale surveys.
On the edge of market research and policy research Chris studies approaches such as lifestyle segmentations and other ways of clustering people into meaningful groups in terms of their preferences and behavior.
