The seventeenth-century canal ring area of Amsterdam inside the Singelgracht

The seventeenth-century canal ring area of Amsterdam inside the Singelgracht, or Amsterdam canal ring area for short, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in August 2010. Until the nineteenth century, the Amsterdam canal ring area and the associated urban expansion served as a great example for urban expansion in the Netherlands and in Europe. It is considered to be a masterpiece of urban development, hydraulic engineering and architecture, with the greenery as an important part of the design. The Management Plan was drawn up at the time of the nomination for UNESCO World Heritage status in 2009. In 2023 the Management Plan was updated.
