Health impacts of fossil fuels

Welcome to the homepage of our project on the health risks caused by the combustion of fossil fuels. The use of fossil fuels is a large contributor to greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, thus affecting climate change. However, combusting fossil fuels also creates risks to public health by causing air pollution.

Whereas the link between fossil fuels and climate change is generally well-known, information on the health effects of fossil fuel based air pollution is often harder to find.

One of the institutions people turn to about information on the risks of fossil fuels, is the Global Climate and Health Alliance (GCHA). This alliance of health professionals aims to mitigate the health effects of climate change. They noted that many people are looking for information on health effects of air pollution, but that it can be difficult to find the information that you are looking for.

In this project, we work together with the GCHA to investigate what people know about these health risks, and how we can make relevant information more easily accessible to the public.
