Pilot: zero emission theater tour with electric truck
Jakop Ahlbom company and Pieter Smit completed a first fully electrified nationwide theater tour of the Netherlands. This was the show "Horror" that traveled through the country in the fall of 2024 (a total of 46 performances). An electric truck was hired for this purpose. This electric truck has a range of up to 300 km and moved from (inner) city to (inner) city to during the theater tour. The theaters played an important role in this; they provided temporary grid connection for the charging infrastructure so that the truck could leave with a full battery after each performance. This research answers the main question, "What are the challenges of using electric freight transport in practice?" In doing so, this project uncovers challenges about available charging facilities at theaters in inner-city areas, charging simulation and costs of electric freight transport, and challenges around urban distribution and implementation of future ZE zones.
