Adding to the works of the LIFE (Local Inclusive Future Energy) project, Helen investigated underlying values that influence decision-making regarding various energy scenarios. Her central research question was: “What are the underlying values that influence criteria prioritization in a MCDA-based group decision-making across phases for energy transitions in Venserpolder, Amsterdam Southeast?”. She used a Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) to support and facilitate decision-making. This MCDA was created based on input of an internal group (experts in the field) and an external group (residents). It became apparent that the internal group preferred the energy scenario of a collective energy system, while the external group preferred a mix of various scenarios.
